Predicted Critical Consensus: "Ben Affleck continues to impress as both director and actor in this searing crime thriller that captures the gritty soul of Dennis Lehane's source material."

It's hard to imagine this one being any less than solid-to-great, considering Affleck is three-for-three as far as the crime-thriller genre goes, even if the early 20th century will be a new trick for the writer-director-actor.

Considering that he also wrote both Gone Baby Gone and The Town, the former of which was adapted from a Lehane novel, there's little reason to be worried here. It wouldn't be a shocker if it didn't reach the highs of his prior work (particularly Argo), but it's still got success written all over it in every way.
