3. The Ridiculous Red Carpet Outfits

Whether it's because you're jealous that you didn't think to come dressed as a marshmallow octopus or you just don't understand how anyone could possibly sit in a cinema watching a film dressed in something Lady Gaga would reject as too much, the whole glitz and grotesquery of Cannes is difficult to take.

Even when you're there covering the festival, the experience is a million miles away from the catwalkers and fancy dress artists who traverse the red carpet, looking like they're three steps from a Furries documentary.

And if you're honest, that probably makes you a little bit sad.
