1. Subgenres
I do not believe that there is another genre of film which has as many subgenres or is as versatile as the Horror genre. We have stalk and slash, zombies, ghosts, vampires, body horror (a la Cronenberg), exploitation, home invasion, monster movies, murder mysteries (Giallos), aliens, cannibals, apocalyptic horror - plus many more that have slipped my mind. The possibility for invention with horror is endless. New genres could appear overnight and new takes on old genres are a very popular trend in the world of horror films. The subgenres never grow old and are continually expanded upon by inventive film directors. There is just so much to captivate the viewer. I love zombies and inanimate objects coming into murderous life but you may like vampires and ghosts. Yet we are still bonded by our love of horror.
