20 Recent Casting Choices NOBODY Expected

When it was announced that David O. Russell was set to direct a biopic of legendary American football broadcaster John Madden, few would've ever expected him to cast Nicolas Cage in the role.

All respect to the One True God, but it's frankly tough to picture him portraying Madden, because beyond the lack of an obvious physical resemblance, can anyone really picture Cage disappearing into the role and convincing everyone he is Madden?

Those concerns were seemingly confirmed when the first picture of Cage in the film was released, where he just looks like... Nicolas Cage wearing a John Madden wig.

While Cage will likely give a solid performance in the role regardless, and Russell certainly has a knack for getting brilliant work out of his casts, few would've ever considered him a snug, natural fit for a part like this.

Only once the first trailer drops will we know for sure if Cage has pulled off the John Madden Voice - undeniably one of the most important facets of playing the man.
