19. The Dwarfs - Snow White

After all the hemming and hawing over whether or not the "live action" Snow White would actually feature the Seven Dwarfs in source-accurate form, they do indeed appear in the film as one might expect.

But rather than hire dwarf actors to portray the iconic characters, Disney decided to reimagine the dwarfs as CGI characters achieved through performance capture - a polarising decision for several reasons, not least that the CGI renditions tumbled straight into the uncanny valley.

In a manner not terribly dissimilar to the offputtingly not-quite-there CGI in Robert Zemeckis' The Polar Express, there's an unsettling, even nightmarish quality to the dwarfs, who can't quite pass muster as believable living entities despite the clearly masses of money spent on their creation.

Given that the dwarfs are a vital part of the Snow White story, it's perhaps little surprise that the film received mixed notices from critics and audiences alike, many feeling that Disney utterly whiffed its reinterpretation of the legendary characters.
