Guy was a pioneer of the Chicago blues movement and has influenced generations of guitarists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, and John Mayer, while having eight Grammy Awards to his name.

For Ryan Coogler to secure the services of an 88-year-old Guy for the part, and for him to prove such a natural actor no less, is a major geek-out moment for any blues fans out there, even if it likely flew over the heads of just about everyone else.
