28 Years Later: The Bone Temple has had a funny old run. After reportedly smashing test screenings and then being lauded by both critics and audiences alike upon release, it woefully underperformed at the box office. Seeing it bring in less than the original 28 Days Later from 2002 wouldn't have been on anyone's bingo card.

This has led to uncertainty surrounding the previously planned third in the Years trilogy. Announced before even 28 Years Later released, coming as part of a three film plan, there is a genuine fear now that this new chapter in the franchise will end with its second entry.

This would be a travesty for a number of reasons. Firstly, The Bone Temple, as with 28 Years Later before it, was awesome. Buoyed by outstanding performances from Jack O'Connell and Ralph Fiennes, with one particular satanic scene standing out, it was an outrageous, compelling, and deliciously sinister addition to the story.

Though both Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal and Dr. Kelson died before the end of the film, the big news was that Cillian Murphy returned as Jim, along with his daughter, setting up a story with Spike (Alfie Williams) and Kellie, formerly known as Jimmy Ink (Erin Kellyman). Fans have waited more than two decades for Jim to come back, and for this to lead to nothing would be crushing.
