20 Recent Movies That Deserve A Sequel

7. The Thursday Murder Club

Arguably more than any on this list, there were questions and expectations of a sequel even before The Thursday Murder Club released. Adapted from just the first of five novels in the series from author Richard Osman, of course the long term aim here is a franchise.

There is, however, no linear plot throughout the five, it is more a new mystery each time that the Thursday Murder Club are looking to solve, something akin to Benoit Blanc in Knives Out, though with more returning supporting characters.

Though the film wasn't the best adaptation of the source material it could have been, it was still a fun adventure, and it would feel a waste if Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie were together for only one outing. With four more excellent stories to play with at least, and the fact that a lot of people watched on Netflix, The Thursday Murder Club should definitely be revisited.

There would have to be creative changes should The Man Who Died Twice be adapted, particularly with Bogdan (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) being arrested for murder at the close of the movie, but there is more than enough juice in the franchise to keep going.
