20 Saddest Moments In Marvel's Cinematic Universe (So Far)

4. Frigga€™s Funeral

With Terminator Genisys having been subjected to a critical savaging prior to its opening this weekend, director Alan Taylor might want to think very carefully about his next move. Taylor came to prominence directing episodes of some of TV€™s best offerings of recent years, including The West Wing, The Sopranos, Deadwood and, most recently, Game Of Thrones, but his endeavours on the silver screen have been far less successful. Case in point: Thor: The Dark World. Generally considered the weakest link by a distance in Marvel€™s Phase Two, the Thor sequel has its fans but even they would surely acknowledge this was anything but the studio€™s finest hour. That€™s not to say that there weren€™t some memorable scenes, and the death of Frigga at the hands of Algrim and her subsequent Viking-style funeral was one of the best. The restrained performances of Hemsworth, Hopkins and all concerned, a haunting soundtrack and Loki€™s wordless rage all added up to a poignant few minutes and a worthy send-off for a secondary character.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
