20 Saddest Moments In Marvel's Cinematic Universe (So Far)

There€™s definitely something of the soulful about Steve Rogers, the one stalwart of Earth€™s Mightiest Heroes who simply can€™t catch a break. 2011€™s Captain America: The First Avenger was a WWII period piece for the most part but bookended by scenes taking place in the present day. After making the characteristically noble decision to crash Johann Schmidt€™s aircraft in the Arctic rather than put civilian lives at risk, Rogers awakens to a radio broadcast tipping him off that all is not as it seems. A mad dash through a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility and into the streets of New York ends with a bemused Cap taking in modern day Times Square as Nick Fury arrives on the scene to inform him 70 years have elapsed. It€™s hard not to feel for the guy when Rogers responds to Fury asking if he will be okay by lamenting, €œYeah, I just... I had a date.€
