20 Scariest Films Of All Time

13. (2007)

At first glance a synopsis of may give the impression that it is a very bread-and-butter horror film €“ not only does it utilise found-footage but also zombies, two horror genres which have flooded cinemas in recent years. However, is a foreign language horror film to have truly achieved notoriety. Even those horror cinema fans who usually dismiss foreign language films because they 'cant be bothered to read' amid all the ghoulish action have probably given a chance or at least mentioned that they want to. The film follows a reporter and her cameraman who are making a documentary called 'While You're Sleeping'. They follow the fire department after they receive a call about a woman being trapped inside her flat. After the police break down the door the woman attacks and bites a policeman. The building is then sealed off. It quickly becomes apparent that there is a disease ravaging the luckless people of this apartment complex. What ensues is a fight against the infected and of course, some level of demonic possession. This film is full of tension and some extremely effective jump scares made all the more thrilling by the use of handheld cameras. irrefutably deserves it's spot on this list.
