20 Sick Cannibal Movies You Need To See Before You Die

10. The Silence Of The Lambs

Easily the most famous movie involving cannibalism ever made, The Silence of the Lambs introduced audiences to Hannibal Lecter, one of the great fictional characters of all time. He's terrifying yet sophisticated, so you don't know if he's about to engage you in an interesting philosophical debate or just lunge forward and try to snack on your organs. We find out early on that Lecter is a serial killer who consumes the flesh of his victims, but you never actually see any cannibalism. Not only that, but Hannibal Lecter isn't even in the movie that much. He only has 24 minutes of screen time in two hours, which might be surprising since Hannibal is impossible to get out of your mind after the credits roll. He makes such an impression that by the end, he has impacted your psyche just as deeply as he would have by ingesting someone right in front of you, and that's a testament to a truly engaging performance from Anthony Hopkins. It isn't really a cannibal movie per se, and the main villain is a man who kidnaps people and skins them, but given that it introduced the most famous cannibal in film history to the big screen, it certainly deserves a mention.
