20 Sports Documentaries You Must See Before You Die

5. One Day In September

In a perfect world, sport would never be affected by politics, race or religion in any capacity. Those playing would be able to get on with their game and hopefully entertain those watching without fear of anything happening to them.

That being said, we live in a world that is far from perfect, so when you've got a sporting event that everyone is watching like the Olympics, anything out of the ordinary will be certain to make a huge impact.

One of the craziest things to ever happen at a sporting event occurred during the 1972 Olympic Games, which were held in Munich, Germany. A terrorist group known as Black September wanted to call attention to the problems suffered by Palestinians and did so by capturing a number of Israeli hostages.

You'd think that a historic sporting event like the Olympics would be covered in security, but as you'll see during Kevin MacDonald's documentary, One Day In September, the rescue of these athletes was a complete mess from the outset and led to the unnecessary death of a number of lives.
