20 Sports Documentaries You Must See Before You Die
1. O.J: Made In America
We've already brought up NFL players who have been involved in some wild off-field activities, but the most famous case of this was OJ Simpson. For most people born in the 90s, OJ is known solely for his infamous murder trial that he was found not guilty for.
However, if you didn't know about him during his college football and NFL years, then the impact of his trial simply wouldn't have the impact you'd imagine. That's why OJ: Made in America is such a fascinating watch.
Most sports documentaries focus on a specific moment in time, but this goes through Simpson's entire life, including his career as a football player, the alleged murder of his wife, Nicole Brown, and her lover, the following trial and everything that happened after that too.
The director of the five part mini-series, Ezra Edelman, did an exceptional job of chronicling Simpson's meteoric rise and even quicker fall, but the juxtaposition of Simpson's problems compared to the various race relations issues happening in his home state of California is what really separates this from a lot of other sports documentaries out there.
