2. Norman Lloyd - Professor Galen

Norman Lloyd was born in 1914 and had a career that spanned almost an entire century. While Star Trek fans might best remember him as Professor Galen, Captain Picard's archaeology professor, there really were very few aspects of film, television, and theatre that this giant of the industry wasn't involved in.

He worked with Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles - to name but a few. He achieved success on stage in the days before the Tony Awards existed, observing that simply being named as an actor to watch was more than enough in those times. His career saw the Great Depression, the rise of Fascism, the Second World War, the Hollywood Blacklist - all of the major events of 20th century Hollywood history.

He appeared in all six seasons of St. Elsewhere, playing Dr. Daniel Auschlander. He would also appear alongside Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society. He enjoyed a 75-year marriage to his wife, Peggy Craven, with whom he had two children - Michael and Josie. He died on May 11, 2021, at 106 years of age.
