20 Star Trek Actors Who Died In 2021

1. Dean Stockwell - Grat

Star Trek Grat
CBS

Stockwell appeared in the Enterprise episode Detention as Grat, the hardline Governer of the prison in which Archer and Mayweather find themselves. This is a tiny part in a filmography that spans decades. Born in 1936, Stockwell continued acting up until 2015.

He got an early start in film, appeared as a child actor under contract to MGM, in a small part in The Valley Of Decision, then a larger part in the 1945 film Anchor's Aweigh. This would lead to a career that barely stopped until 1951. From 1952 until the mid-'60s, he continued to appear in films and television, before taking a break from the business.

He returned at the end of the decade, working solidly until the early '80s. Then, as a new father, he turned to real estate to pay the bills. This would be short-lived however, as in 1984 he appeared in Paris, Texas, and David Lynch's Dune. In 1988, he was nomiated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in Married To The Mob. In 1989, he won the role of Rear Admiral Albert 'Al' Calavicci in Quantum Leap.

Following this stint, he appeared in several more SciFi projects, including Stargate SG-1. He played Brother Cavill in Ronald D. Moore and David Eick's reimagined Battlestar Galactica series.

Stockwell died on November 7, 2021, at the age of 85.
