20 Terrible 2015 Movies That Should Never Have Happened

11. A Deadly Adoption

The Plot: After miscarrying following a traumatic accident, Sarah Benson (Kristen Wiig) and her husband Robert (Will Ferrell) take in a pregnant young woman, Bridgette (Jessica Lowndes), whose baby they will adopt when she gives birth. However, it turns out that Bridgette isn't all she appears to be, and is running her own sly scheme. Why It Shouldn't Exist: A Deadly Adoption is a spoof of terrible Lifetime movies that... also aired on the Lifetime network. While it's refreshing to see the network appreciating the tawdriness of their own product, there's not much fun to be had in a film that recycles the tired tropes of the network's output (excessive melodrama, terrible production values, ridiculous dialogue) without any subversion whatsoever. That's right, despite starring two veritable Hollywood A-listers, the film plays itself fairly straight, whereas the tongue-in-cheek approach would surely have been more fun, ala the Sharknado movies. Instead, it just feels like another woefully awful Lifetime film that just so happens to feature two famous people.
