20 Terrible 2015 Movies That Should Never Have Happened

12. Jem & The Holograms

The Plot: A loose (that's very loose) adaptation of the classic 80s animated TV series Jem, in which teen musician Jerrica Benton (Aubrey Peeples) is plucked from YouTube by a slimy LA record exec (Juliette Lewis), and that's all before a robot created by her dead father shows up and leads her and her sisters on a wild scavenger hunt. Yep. Why It Shouldn't Exist: Because, like Pan, there was simply no audience screaming out for either a) a reboot of Jem or b) a frothy film about the state of the music industry aimed at tweens, so it basically appealed to nobody and sank like a stone at the box office. The young performers at front and center do their best, but the film is frequently tonally jarring (it feels like at least three different movies forced to hang out together), the songs are ear-assaultingly bad, and at 118 minutes in length, it's a good 30 minutes longer than should be legally possible. Also like Pan, because it performed so horribly, at least you'll pretty much never have to hear about it ever again after this article...
