20 Terrible 2015 Movies That Should Never Have Happened

17. Pixels

The Plot: A trio of video game nerds (Adam Sandler, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage) must team together to fend off an alien invasion which comes in the form of, yes, iconic video game characters such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. Only they, with their elite skills, have even the slightest chance of saving Earth. Why It Shouldn't Exist: In fairness, Pixels has a decent enough premise...but did Adam Sandler really need to take the reins on this one? The result is a fairly braindead "hate letter" to the video game form, more offensive than most terrible game adaptations because it actively defecates on legendary video game icon Q*Bert, lacks internal logic and thrusts a ton of sexist imagery and ideas at the viewer. It also commits the cardinal sin of thoroughly wasting Peter Dinklage, which sucks all the more because he was clearly game for an off-the-wall performance. Instead, he doesn't even show up for like an hour, and barely gets to make a dent. Ironically, gamers are the exact audience who should avoid this movie (along with everyone else, too).
