20 Terrible 2015 Movies That Should Never Have Happened

13. Pan

The Plot: A prequel story to Peter Pan, where Peter (Levi Miller) is spirited to Neverland and meets the villainous Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman), the swashbuckling James Hook (Garrett Hedlund) and a native chief's beautiful daughter, Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara). Why It Shouldn't Exist: Nobody really wanted it in the first place (evidenced by the previous 2003 Peter Pan film also bombing at the box office), and unsurprisingly this is about as exhausting as CGI-slathered "entertainment" gets, colourful and visually busy but also soulless and boring. Jackman and Hedlund get a few points for trying, but the plot is totally forgettable, there's no pronounced feeling of fun or adventure, and the attempts to re-fashion Pan's mythology mostly feel lazy and nowhere near as clever as the film clearly thinks. Considering the Pan was a colossal bomb and has barely been talked about since, it's pretty damn close to non-existence already.
