20 Terrible Oscar Nominations From The Past Ten Years - Corrected

15. The 2018 Best Picture Field

This was a very good line-up for the most part, but three of the inclusions weren't quite up there.

Darkest Hour is good and The Post is actually very good, but neither were among the year's greatest movies while the Best Picture nomination for the self-indulgent and over-praised Phantom Thread was pretty inexplicable, especially when writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson's last two films, The Master and Inherent Vice, had been snubbed so badly.

Additionally, Darkest Hour's nomination for Best Cinematography, The Post's nomination for Best Actress (Meryl Streep) and Phantom Thread's nomination for Best Supporting Actress (Lesley Manville), two good but not outstanding performances, were also surprising.

Corrected:

Best Picture line-ups should always be ten films and it's infuriating that it's always nine or eight nominees, so a tenth slot should've been provided here.

Logan and Blade Runner 2049, the year's two most beloved blockbusters, were both incredible films that more than deserved a spot on the Best Picture line-up, while Britain also produced two outstanding indie films in 2017: God's Own Country and Lady Macbeth. Those should've taken the ninth and tenth slots.

Regarding the other nominations, Good Time's stunning cinematography, Florence Pugh's magnificent performance in Lady Macbeth and Allison Williams' terrifying supporting performance in Get Out would've been far better picks.
