20 Terrible Razzie Mistakes - Corrected

6. The Meg - Worst Rip-Off

Penguin Batman Returns
Warner Bros

Is this a joke?

The Meg is an absolute blast and a heart-warming, beautifully judged B-Movie that is legitimately one of the greatest shark movies ever made. This was in no way, shape or form worthy of this nomination and The Meg is a stand-alone, original film anyhow so how is it a rip-off?

The nomination described this as a rip-off of Jaws... but, the last time I looked, Jaws didn't involve Jason Statham fighting a giant CGI prehistoric shark.

Corrected:

There are several things that could've been chosen, such as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Ocean's 8, The Nun and Solo: A Star Wars Story, but the one which truly deserved a nomination was the flaming train-wreck that was Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Since it cast a damper over an otherwise strong franchise and is one of the worst-written blockbusters of recent times, it's mystifying that it wasn't nominated instead of this delightful monster movie.
