20 Things That Almost Completely Changed Harry Potter Movies

14. The Deathday Party Scene

In the second book, there's a sequence dedicated to "Nearly Headless" Nick's 500th Deathday anniversary, and his disappointment at not being welcomed into the Headless Hunt. The sequences were both cut, and Nick's role shrunk considerably, but at one stage the Deathday party was to be included, as concept art was created.

13. Baz Luhrmann Almost Directed The First Movie

Another director approached to discuss the possibility of helming The Philosopher's Stone was the flamboyant Australian director, who would have nailed the opulent requirements, but who probably wouldn't have got the tone right. After all, he's not exactly known for making family-friendly films, regardless of how imaginative his work typically is.
"The first one came along and they rang me, and while I love the pictures and the books now, then I thought, 'What's that?' And said, 'Well that sounds interesting, but I'm thinking of doing a reinvention of the modern musical', and that was Moulin RougeĀ€ So I'm an obvious idiot, because I should have taken Harry Potter."
