Despite mimicking Hitchock's dress sense, Nolan has yet to indulge in the director's propensity for cameoing in his own films - in fact he hasn't once stepped in front of the camera. That hasn't stopped him from putting in a pretty decent performance in Memento, however, after finding that actor Joe Pantoliano didn't quite nail the line "You don't have a clue, you freak!" Rather than bringing Pantoliano back in, Nolan re-recorded the last two words of the line himself - and it's that reading you hear in the finished film.
3. The Bill Murray Of Directors
Murray, despite being one of the most legendary stars working right now, is infamously difficult to get hold of - instead of an agent, he has an answering machine he rarely checks. Nolan is similarly hard to contact, foregoing the usual forms of communication like mobile phones or email. Instead his wife and producing partner Emma Thomas relays information to him verbally or prints off emails from studios execs for him to read. Which seems more rude than anything to be honest.
