20 Things That Almost Completely Changed The MCU

8. Peyton Reed Almost Directed Guardians Of The Galaxy (Instead Of Ant-Man)

Peyton Reed's name began to circulate after he was hired to take over as director of Ant-Man from Edgar Wright after the filmmaker left due to "creative differences." Reed, best known for being the brains behind a series of middling comedy films before his work on Ant-Man, felt like a strange choice in the wake of Wright's departure. Almost as if Marvel - out of options - went for just anybody who was available. It's interesting to learn, then, that the studio didn't choose Reed on a whim; they'd actually been in talks with him for a while, having seriously considered the director of Bring it On, Down With Love and Yes Man as a potential choice of director for - wait for it - Guardians Of The Galaxy. He lost out on the gig to James Gunn in the end (the right choice), but it's curious to discover that Reed had already been on Marvel's radar prior to Ant-Man.
