20 Things That Almost Completely Changed The MCU

13. Josh Hartnett Was Almost Cast As Loki

Oh, uh... can you imagine this? Whilst Tom Hiddleston was ultimately cast in the role of Thor's mischievous brother Loki, quickly becoming a fan favourite as a result (second only to Iron Man, perhaps?), Thor director Kenneth Branagh originally had plans to cast Josh Hartnett in the role. Which seems like an ill-fit to be perfectly honest, but hey - Heath Ledger and the Joker, remember? Speaking of which, Hartnett allegedly planned to pull something of a Heath Ledger with the role, but was eventually cast out. Hiddleston is perfect as Loki, of course, so this isn't something to regret. Had he been cast, though, it would have really changed the MCU in a big way: a Josh Hartnett Loki would have been very different indeed.
