20 Things The X-Men Movies Actually Got Right
9. Making Logan R-Rated
One of the biggest gambles that FOX took on the X-Men franchise was deciding to make some of their films R-rated. In a time when studios weren't willing to bet on a superhero film for adult audiences, Deadpool really cemented the fact that films with this tone can be a box office and critical success.
Logan developed this even further in 2017. The story of Logan and his final stand had to be an R-rated tale about this grizzled old man's final days. Being R-rated meant that we could finally see the bloody violence that comic book Wolverine is known for, which really stayed true to the story Old Man Logan that the film took influence from.
With a huge amount of swearing and insane violence, Logan proved that not all superhero films have to be world saving affairs. Instead they can be smaller, more personal pieces of art.
