20 Things The X-Men Movies Actually Got Right

4. Magneto's Turn In X-Men: First Class

X-Men Days Of Future Past
Fox

What makes a good villain is the justification of his actions. Magneto is perhaps the best example of a justified villain. During the finale of X-Men: First Class we finally see how Erik turned on Charles and the two became enemies.

After a confrontation with Sebastian Shaw, Magneto finally acknowledges that he agrees with Shaw's actions towards the humans. Saying they are the real enemy Erik finally turns on Charles and attempts to destroy a number of military ships.

It isn't until Charles is accidentally shot that we see the heartfelt, genuine care that these two enemies have for each other. Going from rage and anger to sympathy and respect. The turn of Magneto in this film is the Anakin turn to the dark side that we all craved.
