20 Things The X-Men Movies Actually Got Right
3. Embracing The Themes Of The Comics
Nothing is more important in superhero films than capturing the themes of the comics. This is something the original Sam Raimi films did brilliantly, and it's also something that the X-Men films really stick to throughout their run.
The main theme is segregation in society, and a lot of views on racism and homophobia are explored throughout the films.
One of the poignant examples in this is when Bobby Drake's mother asks him the simple question "have you tried not being a mutant?". This one sentence exemplifies the prejudice and intolerance that the X-Men have to face throughout their lives.
Dealing which such heavy themes can be difficult, but the X-Men series manage to perfectly emphasise the injustices surrounding these themes whilst providing more optimistic messages of family and acceptance.
