Greek smuggler, Milos Columbo is a man of the world and can be ruthless when he has to be, but he also has a big heart.

Reflecting Columbo’s softer side, Israeli actor, Chaim Topol suggested that Cubby Broccoli invite his former producing partner on the Bond films, Harry Saltzman to the premiere of For Your Eyes Only.

This was a difficult time for Saltzman. The Canadian producer’s wife, Jacqueline had succumbed to cancer in January 1980 and, after selling his stake in the Bond franchise to United Artists, his fortunes in the film industry - which had suffered in the 1970s - declined even further.

Despite their differences, Broccoli took pity on his former business partner and attended the premiere with him, marking their first reunion since Saltzman’s departure following The Man with the Golden Gun (1974).

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
