Roger Moore and Maud Adams had starred together as James Bond and Andrea Anders in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), but truly became friends whilst filming Octopussy, due in no small part to Adams's concern for the Bond actor.

Although Moore was fascinated by India - particularly due to its division of wealth - and never showed his battle scars on-set, he was very uncomfortable in Udaipur. Due to the extreme heat, he needed several white shirts on standby whilst filming even the simplest of scenes to appear as the impeccably-dressed James Bond and, like other members of the cast and crew, he also experienced dietary problems.

Far worse, however, he was diagnosed with heart problems during filming and seriously considered quitting the production due to his health.

Maud Adams got him a second opinion from her then-boyfriend - a doctor - who gave Roger a clean bill of health. As a small token of his appreciation, Moore arranged a cameo role for her at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco in A View to a Kill.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
