20 Things You Didn’t Know About Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

2. “Reminder: Unsafe Driving Will Void Warranty!”

17 BMW 750iLs in aspen silver were provided for filming.

The first seven featured gadgets and appeared in the Hamburg car chase. Their wing mirrors and windscreens were outfitted with monitors, allowing stunt driver, Steve Griffin to drive them from the back seat. Although a fire crew was on-hand whilst filming the chase in Brent Cross Shopping Centre's car park, concerned shoppers summoned the fire brigade after seeing smoke billowing out of the structure on 16th June 1997!

The eighth car was purely used to film Double-0 Seven storing the GPS Encoder in its glove compartment due to the amount of hydraulic equipment required.

The ninth to 15th cars were back-ups with the 13th being cannibalised for spare parts, whilst the 17th was used for Bond’s drive to the Hotel Atlantic.

The 16th BMW was stripped of its heavy fittings and fired off of a 20-foot-tall rooftop at Eon Studios with compressed air. John Richardson created a miniature BMW 750iL to be digitally-inserted falling into the Lange Mühren in Hamburg. The car that crashed into the Avis storefront was fired off of a 30-foot-high ramp on a lorry already 20 feet off the ground.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
