Bursting onto the scenes and our screens all those years ago on February 23, 1996, there was most definitely a monumental shift in the British film landscape once Danny Boyle's work of art Transpotting was finally set free.
With this adaptation of Irvine Welsh's uncompromising look at drug addiction, poverty, and tackling life in general when raised in a rather rough area, in this case Edinburgh, not only were filmgoers introduced to some of the most iconic independent cinema characters ever to grace the form, but the likes of Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, and Johnny Lee Miller all suddenly found themselves hurled straight into the spotlight as some of the movie world's next big things.
And it's not exactly hard to see why.
From legendary opening sequences that immortalised two simple words forever, to deep dives into the "Worst Toilet in Scotland" and all of the unfiltered heartache and pain in-between, Boyle's unapologetic masterpiece still packs a hell of a punch a staggering 25 years later.

20. Ewan McGregor And Johnny Lee Miller Turned Up Drunk For That Park Scene
As you'll likely discover a few more times over the course of this list, the overall atmosphere when it came to the on (and off) set world being shepherded by the legendary Danny Boyle can best be described as "relaxed". Or in other words, everyone involved seemed to be having the time of their bloody lives.
But in the case of Ewan McGregor and Johnny Lee Millar in the lead-up to the now-classic scene depicting their characters firing an air rifle at a dog in the park, that laid back mentality opened the door for one particularly p*ssed up performance.
Rocking up to set still drunk after a heavy night of antics, the two were forced to lie down for the sequence as they were struggling to actually stay on their wobbly feet. But, turning Guinness into gold, Boyle was able to channel their genuine states into a seemingly hungover bout of target practise.
