10. The Opening 20 Minutes Were Edited For Americans Because They Couldn't Understand Scottish Accents
In all honesty, even for someone who has been born and raised in the British Isles, a thick Scottish brogue isn't what you'd class as the easiest thing to process. But after a minute of two of adapting to the sound, it isn't long before you can just about figure out what in the hell is going down in Danny Boyle's unashamedly Scottish project.
Unfortunately, that clearly wasn't the case for our friends across the pond as Trainspotting's opening 20 minutes saw themselves being heavily edited in order to make the film a little more accessible for American audiences.
Simply put, producers just thought their Stateside crowd wouldn't have the slightest clue what the characters were going on about and weren't willing to risk them walking out in the early stages and begging for some subtitles. So, those first 20 minutes were re-dubbed as a way of accommodating those U.S. citizens unfamiliar with a pure Scottish growl.
