20 Things You Didn’t Know About Trainspotting

11. The Many Beatles References

If it wasn't obvious by the fact that Danny Boyle went out of his way to direct a film pretty much entirely dedicated to the musical mastery of John, Paul, George, and Ringo in Yesterday, the director's passion for all things The Beatles most certainly reared its head throughout Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy, and Spud's tale in Trainspotting.

Perhaps the most evident nod to the iconic British foursome was seen in the moment the Scottish lads crossed the road to enter a hotel in London, mirroring The Beatles' Abbey Road album cover. They pull off a similar feat when waiting for a train earlier in the movie too, this time in a Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band formation.

Even the opening sequence of Renton doing a runner from the police is reminiscent of a scene in A Hard Day's Night.

Boyle definitely didn't need any Help! in getting his love of this British institution over to all in attendance...
