As already touched upon, the cast and crew tasked with bringing Irvine Welsh's story to life weren't afraid to rely on the assistance of real-life heroin addicts to ensure the most authentic depiction of drug addiction they could.

So, in a little nod to their work on set as vital advisors to the cast and crew, the five-a-side football team seen battling against the core group of leading characters early in the film is actually made up of the real-life recovering addicts team of Calton Athletic who had been helping Ewan McGregor and the gang throughout the picture behind-the-scenes.

The side itself is very much a legit and inspiring one too, with the group still helping recovering addicts today and actually receiving a portion of Trainspotting's profits following on from its release.
