20 Things You Didn't Know About A View To A Kill (1985)

9. An End To Another Era

Along with Roger Moore and Lois Maxwell, Bob Simmons also bowed out with A View to a Kill.

He had been with the franchise since Dr. No (1962) as both a stuntman and a stunt coordinator, only missing out on On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969) and The Man With The Golden Gun due to other commitments.

Simmons also has the distinction of being the first James Bond that the audience actually sees in the series: he doubled for Sean Connery in the opening gun barrel sequences to Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger (1964).

He sadly passed away in October 1987, mere months after Timothy Dalton debuted as James Bond.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
