20 Things You Didn't Know About Alien 3

11. The Film Was Meant To Take Place On A Wooden Planet

Alien 3
Vincent Ward

Vincent Ward's script of AlienĀ³ took place on a wooden satellite called Archeon, populated by monks. The people on this world believed mankind destroyed Earth with its own technology centuries ago, forcing the survivors to settle in space and swear off all tech.

When an escape pod carrying Newt and Ripley crash lands on the satellite, they warn the people that a Xenomorph killed the rest of her company (including Hicks and Bishop). The world's leader, Abbott, refuses to believe Ripley and has her imprisoned. When Ripley learns that a Facehugger found its way on her escape pod, she teams up with a monk called Brother John and an android (who was jailed since he was a product of technology).

In the climax, Ripley kills the Xenomorph but learns she is carrying a queen egg. Brother John punches her in the chest, causing the embryo to burst out through her mouth and into his throat. He then jumps into a fire, exterminating the last Xenomorph.

Although many people reacted to this script positively, Sigourney Weaver hated it, saying the writer hadn't a clue what to do with her character.
