20 Things You Didn't Know About Aliens
1. The Film Was Originally Called Alien 2
In 1986, Cameron co wrote a script for the sequel to Alien, having secured the role of director. The film was tentatively called 'Alien 2', much to the delight of those who like their sequels named numerically.
Although this version of the script was extremely light on dialogue, remarkably much of the story beats of the first half of the film were very similar to this treatment.
There were some notable changes, the most noteworthy of which is that Weyland Yutani no longer existed, removing the evil corporation element from the film entirely. Without a big bad to rally the film around, its abscencee could hacve taken the film and the subsequent franchise on a very different path.
