12. Young Bruce Wayne Was Modelled (Somewhat) On John F. Kennedy Jr.

nytimes When Christopher Nolan and David Goyer were first mapping out the story for Batman Begins, they €“ weirdly enough €“ found inspiration in the life stories of not just one, but two Presidents of the United States. The image of young Bruce Wayne looking sadly out of his window after his parent€™s funeral was inspired, in part, by the famous photograph of John F. Kennedy, Jr. saluting his father€™s casket. Goyer said in the book The Art and Making of the Dark Knight Trilogy: €œThat photograph, which showed this little child trying to look stoic and brave, triggered something for us€ we referred to as the loneliest boy in the world€ we viewed him as a prince regent being groomed to one day become king €“ and the commoners can€™t touch him.€
