20 Things You Didn't Know About Blade Runner 2049

7. The Wooden Animals

Balde Runner 2049
Warner Bros

When K finally tracks down Deckard, holed up in a disused casino in the desert, he notices a series of carved wooded animals, the theme runs through the story; K has memories of owning a carved wooden horse, presumably made by his 'father.'

If you look closely at the animals, a rhino, an antelope, a cat, a horse, an elephant and a lion, the first letter of each animal spell the name RACHEL.

According to both IMDB and Wikipedia, Sean Young's character name is spelt RACHAEL, so we're missing an A but you have to admit, in a film where every single frame is imbued with some meaning, it's one hell of a coincidence.

The wooden animals continue the theme that runs throughout, the creation of life from inanimate objects: Replicants, owls, Dave Bautista...
