20 Things You Didn't Know About Die Hard 2

15. John Leguizamo Originally Had A Much Larger Role

Die Hard 2 Bruce Willis
Fox

The great John Leguizamo has a small role in the film as Burke, one of Colonel Stuart's (William Sadler) mooks who ends up getting peppered with lead by McClane.

In his candid autobiography, "Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas, and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends," Leguizamo mentions that his role was actually supposed to be much larger than the relatively throwaway one it ended up being.

Once the production realised his short stature of 5 feet, 6.5 inches - a whole 4.5 inches shorter than Willis - his role was cut down significantly, and his brief dialogue was ultimately dubbed over by someone else. Oof.

Producer Silver made it up to Leguizamo, however, by giving him a larger role in his 1996 Kurt Russell/Steven Seagal action-thriller Executive Decision, which is ironically one of the better Die Hard-style knock-offs out there.
