20 Things You Didn't Know About Die Hard 2
13. Colonel Stuart's Naked Martial Arts Was Renny Harlin's Idea
Though the movie's primary antagonist Colonel Stuart isn't a patch on Alan Rickman's all-timer baddie Hans Gruber from the first film, he does nevertheless get one of the most memorable introductions to any action hero of his era.
The first time we see Stuart, he's practising naked martial arts in his hotel room while watching a news report about General Esperanza.
There's no real contextual reason for it beyond establishing that Stuart is a physical specimen and skilled fighter, given that he uses the very same moves on McClane in the film's final battle.
Yet the nudity reportedly wasn't written into the script originally, but instead thought up by director Harlin hinself.
