20 Things You Didn't Know About Django Unchained

12. The Original Django Made A Cameo

Django Unchained
A Band Apart

After hatching a plan to rescue Broomhilda from the Candyland plantation, Django and Schultz meet with Candie at his gentleman's club to discuss the possibility of buying one of his Mandingo fighters. While Schultz bears witness to a gruesome fight in front of the fireplace, Django goes to the bar. Once his fighter, Luigi, is killed by one of Candie's fighters, Big Fred, beaten slave owner Amerigo Vessepi retires to the bar for a drink beside Django.

Once there, the two have an exchange. Amerigo asks: "What's your name?" Django tells him. Amerigo asks if Django can spell it, to which he replies: "D-J-A-N-G-O. The D is silent." Amerigo looks at Django and says 'I know' before downing his shot and exiting. If you were wondering what that scene was about, Amerigo was played by Franco Nero. That's the same Franco Nero who is most famous for his role as Django in the Corbucci classic.
