20 Things You Didn't Know About Dr. No

8. The Decontamination Officer

The decontamination scene inside Dr. No's lair has not only gone on to be memorably spoofed; it also features another of the supporting actors to appear in different roles in the franchise.

Anthony Chinn portrays Chen, the decontamination officer overseeing the process. He then later assists Dr. No in the reactor sequence at the end of the film.

Chinn returned as Goldfinger's Korean valet who served Mint Juleps to the villain and to Double-0 Seven in Kentucky. More memorably, he featured as the operator of the faux crater roof in Blofeld's volcano rocket base in You Only Live Twice (1967), being killed by Double-0 Seven's rocket-powered cigarette.

Lastly, Chinn featured in A View to a Kill (1985) as a businessman who protests against Project Main Strike and is dumped out of an airship by the nefarious May Day (Grace Jones) whilst it is in flight.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
