Though much of Gone Girl was shot in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, additional photography was also completed on a Los Angeles soundstage, primarily for interior scenes which couldn't be shot on location.

While preparing to shoot interiors for Nick's house in L.A., the production crew discovered they couldn't locate a door which precisely resembled the one on the actual property back in Missouri.
