Because Ben Affleck was set to start shooting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shortly after Gone Girl's principal photography had been completed, eagle-eyed viewers might notice subtle fluctuations in his weight while watching the movie.
Given the many months it can take to create the desired build for a superhero, Affleck was already bulking up while shooting Gone Girl, and as such he looks slightly more muscular in random scenes throughout the movie.
