20 Things You Didn't Know About Heat

10. There's A Myth That Pacino & De Niro Never Actually Acted Together

Heat Al Pacino Robert De Niro Val Kilmer

In the first few years following the movie's release, an urban legend of-sorts did the rounds that, despite Heat being hyped-up as the long-anticipated showdown between Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, the two never actually appeared physically on-set together.

Though this is obviously false to anyone who has watched the movie as it's supposed to be seen in its letterbox ratio, for those watching pan-and-scan versions of the film on TV in the pre-widescreen days, most shots depicting the two actors together were cropped, showing only one of the actor's faces in the frame at any given time.

And so the myth was born, which continued to propagate until the film finally hit DVD and people could see it in its intended aspect ratio at home.
