20 Things You Didn't Know About Inglourious Basterds

2. Mike Myers And The RAF

Mike Myers is a man of many voices - his work on Austin Powers showcased his somewhat dubious transatlantic English "YEAH BABY!" shtick many years ago. But a clipped British officer class accent? He's more Peter Cushing than Man Of Mystery in Inglourious Basterds, as General Ed Fenech, the 'mastermind' behind Operation Kino.

So where did Myers pick this rather specific speech form from? His parents were both British, having served in the RAF and the Army.

The name of the character, curiously, is a cribbing of Italian scream-queen Edwige Fenech, known for such classics as Your Vice Is A Locked Room And Only I Have The Key, Strip Nude For Your Killer and amazingly, Hostel Part II, directed by Eli Roth.
