20 Things You Didn't Know About Jaws 3D

2. Accidental Product Placement

Universal Pictures

Nowadays, product placement in major blockbusters is a huge deal, and companies will pay through the nose to feature a character drinking a Pepsi or having a truck full of Fanta appear in the middle of a car chase. A lot of the budget for the film is recouped through such under-the-table deals. Why else would Will Smith endlessly talk about the benefits of wearing Converse shoes for the majority of I, Robot?

It's nothing new, but companies do prefer to have their product shown in a positive light. It's unlikely that a film will have a scene in which a character is beaten together with a bag full of Coca Cola.

For some reason, however, all appliances that appear in Jaws 3D are from Kenmoreenmore did not request their products be featured so heavily, some crew member just ran to the nearest Walmart and bought an aisle of it.

Aside from Kenmore, Seaworld was oddly fine with a movie about a murderous shark tearing it's guests to pieces, not to mention having a central character (Louis Gossett Jr.) do nothing to stop it. It could have easily been set at a fictional acquatic theme park, but Sea World was down with it.

Kenny Hedges is carbon-based. So I suppose a simple top 5 in no order will do: Halloween, Crimes and Misdemeanors, L.A. Confidential, Billy Liar, Blow Out He has his own website - thefilmreal.com - and is always looking for new writers with differing views to broaden the discussion.
